WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
When we were born, we were automatically born into sin because of Adam and Eve. Adam lived a long time before Eve arrived in the garden, but when she did, Eve took the forbidden fruit from the tree of Knowledge.
Adam knew very well he was forbidden to eat from the tree of Knowledge, but Eve was deceived by the serpent, and Adam not only allowed her to eat, but also ate too.
The consequences of Adam and Eveโs sin was not only that they were kicked out of the garden of Eden, or that women were to experience childbirth, and men bear hard labour – but ultimately it was that we were disconnected from God, and destined for death.
God had to make a sacrifice for us to be re-connected with him, experience eternal life, and have a chance to enter the Kingdom. This sacrifice had to be BLOOD.
You see, God is spirit. He is OMNIPOTENT: Having unlimited power, OMNISCIENT: All knowing and OMNIPRESENT: Everywhere at once. So, he had to take life from his own spirit and allow the child (Jesus Christ) to be born of Flesh. A Spirit can not take on sin, only the flesh can, so Jesus who knew NO sin, had to take on our sins – in the human form.
Jesus gave up his kingly inheritance when he came to earth. He humbled himself when he came in Man form. He was rich, but became poor, because his purpose was to save us from eternal separation from God. This meant he had to DIE. He had to die to save us from our sins.
His death is the Good News to all of humanity who believe in him.
He gave up his divine privileges by voluntarily setting aside the full use of his divine attributes and glory to live as a human. But he did not cease to be divine during this time – this is how he was able to heal, deliver and raise man from the dead.
Andโฆ when Jesus left earth and returned to be with the Father, he left us with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit not only comforts us, he leads us, guides us and directs us.
The Godhead is a Deity that has separate parts but that fully operates in perfect harmony and unity. This Godhead is known to us as the trinity. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
Want to know more of Jesus Christ? Read Colossians 1 v 15 – 23
1v 15 – 23 : Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation., for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see- such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christsโs blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, He has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the good news. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as Godโs servants to proclaim it.
In Colossians 2 v 10-12 scripture says โFor in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh[b] was put off when you were circumcised by[c] Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.โ
In Phillipians 2 V 6 – 11 scripture says: โWho, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!โ
Verse 6-7: NIV version says โWho, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.โ
The NLT version says โThough he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position as a slave and was born as a human being.โ
The KJV version says โThough he was in the form of God, he made himself of no reputation.โ
And the ESV version says โ who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking on the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.โ
The concept of emptying oneself is called Kenosis. In the Oxford dictionary, Kenosis refers to Jesus taking on human nature and its limitations, but not to the loss of his divine nature. This was done out of obedience to God the Father to fulfil his mission of redemption.
Jesusโ divine glory was restored after his resurrection, and he was ultimately elevated to the highest place of honor.
So when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are acknowledging
- He and God is ONE
- He saved us by dying for our sins.
- He will return to earth to take his followers to the Kingdom.
- God the Father has given him (Christ) authority to judge the world. (John 5; 22)
We have ONE Triune God. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is God the Son. Which means he is the Son of God because he is directly of God the Fatherโs spirit, but he is also fully God as well because he possess the authority to redeem us from sin, and (Matthew 20: 28) he has the authority to Judge (John 5v 22 – 23), and again in verse 27. and No-one can get to the father except through him. (John 14: v 6)
