Salvation
In today’s article we are going to be discussing: Salvation
The Bible defines salvation as deliverance from sin and death. It is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ. Salvation is the undeserved gift from God.
In John 3 verse 16, Jesus says: “ For God so loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but will have eternal life.”
Salvation is a free gift to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. Once a person trusts in Christ as their personal Saviour, that person belongs to God, is free from the power of Sin, and has assurance of eternal life. (Study Bible NLT)
Salvation is not an event, it’s not a one time thing, but my pastor describes it as a marathon. Something in which we must endure to end. It is like a race, that we must continue until we past the finish line. The Bible says that Salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit. {John 3 verse 1-16}
Salvation is turning from our sins, which also includes having a personal relationship with God. Our Salvation has been obtained by Jesus’ blood.(1Peter 1:18-19)
This is the Good News.
In Romans 6 verse 22 – 23, scripture says: “But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
The Bible says that (1John 1;5-10) Receiving salvation makes us God’ children.
In Colossians 1 verse 13-14 Scripture says: “For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. This sums up that Salvation rescues us from Satan’s Dominion.
1 V 21- 23 Paul says it’s a process and not an event. We are being continually saved. We must persevere in God.
Romans 8 V 30 shows an unbroken chain of salvation. It say’s :
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified
1 Corinthians 8 – 9 says: He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
Philippians 1 v6 says: being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
1 Peter v 1 – 5 says: To God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithinynia who have been chosen according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for Obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
Pastor John Piper sums this up as : God’s power sustains our faith so that we persevere and inherit what has been promised to us. So it is conditional upon our perseverance, but it is completely certain.
All of God’s predestined, certified and believing children are pushed to persevere.
All the warnings of The New Testament should be taken seriously, as we are found to be secure by how seriously we take all the promises and the warnings of the scripture.
In an interview with Pastor John Piper, he describes the word as Election, predestination, redemption, propitiation (the action of appeasing or satisfying God’s wrath against sin, typically through a sacrifice.), divine calling, regeneration, reconciliation, sanctification and glorification.
God’s people will persevere.
Let’s end this article with a prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for everything you have done for me. Thank you for your undeserving grace, your mercies that are new every morning. You hand that cradles us when we fail. Thank you for the things you are presently working out, we come to you humbly asking for your power and strength to continue to endure until the end. Help us Lord to persevere in our faith. Forgive us Father for the sins we have committed knowingly and unknowingly. Renew a steadfast spirit within me, and create in me a clean heart. Push me and help me to be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ, in Jesus name I pray,
Amen.
God Bless and see you in the next episode.
